Welcome to the Yokaimasks Project
The Yokaimasks collection seeks to capture and celebrate the many faces of the elusive Yokai through artwork that expresses their features and forms. It is a rich tradition of storytelling that we are excited to bring to life through the form of NFTs. We are excited to bring to life this rich tradition of storytelling by merging our art with the digital asset ownership features of NFTs.
There will only be 3,000 masks total in the Yokaimasks collection. Each mask comes with an unique set of attributes that makes each one special. No two masks will be alike.
The masks will be minted on our own smart contract and will be tradeable on our own exclusive marketplace at https://yokai.money. During the initial sales launch, the marketplace will allow the browsing of masks with a search filter. The NFT auction trading features of the marketplace will be made available after all masks are revealed.

Distribution Schedule
The mask distribution will launch on Wednesday, June 9th, 2021 at 4:00 pm UTC. All 3000 masks will be offered for sale when the launch begins. The distribution of the masks will follow a random sequence. After each purchase, the patron will receive a randomly selected mask from the full collection of 3000 masks. The maximum number of masks that can be purchased per transaction is limited to 10.
The artwork will be revealed in three phases. The first 1000 masks (#0000 – #1000) will be revealed at the launch in our marketplace gallery for everyone to see. Masks #1001 – #2000 will be revealed 7 days after launch. And masks #2001 – #3000 will be revealed 14 days after the launch date.

Why Yokai Masks?
The unique and fascinating world of Yokai existed in Japanese folklore for centuries. But it was during the Edo Period that they began to be widely seen in art. The legendary ukiyo-e painter Katsushika Hokusai was one of the most well-known artists with memorable pieces of Yokai depictions in his work. We would like to explore this world and create a new artistic interpretation of the Yokai theme. By owning our artwork on the blockchain, you will be part of a powerful collection of art pieces with mesmerizing stories and characters from traditional Japanese mythology.
The Yokaimasks collection was inspired by a creative approach which has been popularized in the NFT art space. For example, the Cryptopunks project adopted a feature that is often seen in modern gaming — a “character customization” tool that generates a series of characters (or artworks) with format constraints that compose a unified collective. This concept allows a collection of artworks to be created with several individual parts for each piece. The unique composition of the parts forms a completed piece in the collection. As a result, the collection can yield thousands of uniquely composed pieces of art that can be shared among thousands of patrons. This method of creating art was born from the crypto NFT space, which provides new ways of sharing serialized art. Thus with a large art collection that consists of many parts, patrons are able to own individualized pieces of the whole, thereby forming a stronger and more personal bond with the project itself.
